Whatisit? PreWar Christmas Quiz day 6

prewar-xmas-2017-6a
The last part of our six-day quiz could be very well be the hardest one to solve. The remains of this once luxury car were found in a peat bog near Gotenburg. Only 500 of this particular model were made and its nickname was Carioca, meaning an inhabitant of Rio de Janeiro. But don’t be fooled as it was also a popular dance in the country where this automobile was made.

You can now send in your answers of today and the previous five days, but do so BEFORE Wednesday, January 3 2017. PLEASE click the “Add new comment” box and tell us the six makes and possibly the model names as this will give you bonus points when we have multiple correct answers.

From the participants with all answers correct, four names will be drawn at random. The solution to the puzzle will be published on Saturday, January 6. All four winners will receive the famous PreWarCar T-shirt. Good luck and we hope you enjoyed this holiday season!

Whatisit? PreWar Christmas Quiz day 5

prewar-xmas-2017-5a
Something went wrong with today’s quiz car, as it was once a restored one. About thirty years ago it went up in flames due to an accident. It hasn’t been restored since. To help you determine the make, think Eastern-Europe where it was set up in a newly created country just after WW I. It was named after a mountain ridge in that country. This sad wreck dates from the 1930s.

Write down the name of this automobile, but please DO NOT send us your answer before the last quiz has been published. Of course you can contact us on all other topics, because the PreWarCar offices are always staffed! From the participants with all answers correct, four names will be drawn at random. All four winners will receive the famous PreWarCar T-shirt. Good luck and if you like puzzles, try your hand at the PostWarClassic X-mas Puzzle. Enjoy this holiday season!

Whatisit? PreWar Christmas Quiz day 4

prewar-xmas-2017-4a
For day 4 of our six day quiz it’s not the car at the right that we want to know the make of. That’s a Chevrolet. Easy! No, it’s the make of the one up front you will have to tell us. To help you a bit, the marque was known for expensive automobiles, but in the early twenties they felt the need for a cheaper six cylinder model, of which this is an example. If you still don’t know what it is, then maybe you can find a man who owns one, and ask him?

Write down the name of this automobile, but please DO NOT send us your answer before the last quiz has been published. Of course you can contact us on all other topics, because the PreWarCar offices are always staffed! From the participants with all answers correct, four names will be drawn at random. Whatisit? PreWar Christmas Quiz day 3

prewar-xmas-2017-3a
The puzzle for day 3 of our six-day quiz is an automobile that had been hidden in a barn for more than forty years before it saw daylight again and was sympathetically renovated. The name of the marque came from a coachbuilding company combined with that of a leaping cat. After WW II the company dropped its first two letters for obvious reasons. One other clue is that it was featured on PWC not too long ago.
