Inspired by David Piper’s 365 P2 which won the Kyalami 9 Hours in 1965 and 1966, “The Green Jewel” is perhaps the most desirable of Ferrari’s seventy different liveries created to celebrate the marque’s 70th anniversary. It was this livery that stole the hearts of enthusiasts and the automotive press alike when this special run of production cars was announced at the 2016 Paris Motor show, displayed on a 488 Spider.
In terms of specification, “The Green Jewel” is finished in Verde Metalizzato paintwork this was offset by matte gold wheels, roundels with racing numbers on the doors, and airbrushed Scuderia shields. Inside, the driver’s seat was trimmed in black leather while the driver’s seat was trimmed in Rosso ‘Siam’ leather, a furniture-grade leather of richer quality to emphasise the driver as centre of attention. The seat centres feature vertical pleating to mimic Ferrari’s GT cars of past. Finally, the carpets are trimmed in Apollo Bright L4 fabric, a weather-resistant technical fabric, and aluminum trim on the door panels to contrast the carbon fibre elsewhere in the car.
The seventy unique liveries would be applied to one each of Ferrari’s production models at the time: an F12berlinetta, a California T, a GTC4Lusso, 488 Spider, and a 488 GTB. This made each individual model a one-off in its own right, a truly fantastic way for Ferrari to celebrate its rich history.
The 488 GTB wearing “The Green Jewel” livery was allocated when new to the consignor, its first and only owner. Delivered new to his home in Brazil via Ferrari São Paulo, this is believed to be the only example of all the 70th Anniversary Ferraris to have been delivered new to Brazil.
In addition to its sensational 70th Anniversary livery, the 488 GTB is equipped with the following options:
-AFS1: Advanced Front Lighting System
-ELEV: Front Suspension Lifter
-FNEN: GPS, Cruise Control, and USB plug in the center console
-PAC3: Front and Rear Parking Camera
-PAR2: Front and Rear Parking Sensors
-PDIS: Passenger Display
-SNDH: Premium HiFi Sound System
-WHE4: 20” Spare Wheel
The 488 GTB would remain in Brazil until 2025 at which point the consignor relocated to Switzerland, bringing his prized 488 GTB with him. Upon its arrival in Switzerland the car was formally imported and was awarded Swiss registration in January of 2026.
Today, the 488 GTB is showing just under 1,100 km on its odometer. Over the course of the last eight years, it has been carefully looked after by its first and only owner within his extraordinary collection of modern supercars. The car was driven seldomly to ensure it always remained in operational shape and as such presents wonderfully throughout. Most recently, the car’s last minor service was carried out by Modena Cars SA in November 2025, the officially Ferrari dealership in Plan-les-Ouates, located on the outskirts of Geneva in Switzerland, at 987 km. An extract of the car’s service history with Ferrari shows regular servicing throughout its life, with annual services undertaken every year from 2019 to 2025.
Bringing some of Ferrari’s most iconic liveries into the 21st century, the 70 Anniversary liveries did an exceptional job of showcasing the capabilities of Ferrari’s Tailor Made department, showing customers that the sky was truly the limit in terms of factory customization. That being said, not all 70th anniversary liveries were created equal and some are undoubtedly more eye catching that others. To many, “The Green Jewel” stands out as the very best and its design perfectly suits the shape of the 488 GTB. Offered from the collection of its original owners, this is an opportunity that should not be overlooked.
