The Bentley Turbo R is widely regarded as one of the most important luxury performance saloons of its era. Introduced during a period when Bentley was seeking to establish a stronger identity separate from Rolls-Royce, the Turbo R combined traditional British craftsmanship with impressive power and road presence. The ‘R’ in its name stood for ‘roadholding’ reflecting significant improvements in handling and suspension compared to earlier Bentley models. Powered by a turbocharged 6.75 litre V8 engine, the 1990 Turbo R delivered effortless acceleration and exceptional torque. While official power figures were not widely published by Bentley at the time, the car was known for its strong performance, capable of moving its substantial weight with remarkable ease.
