Ferrari set a new record in the 24 Hours of Le Mans when its cars claimed an astonishing six outright victories in a row from 1960 through 1965. As is well known, however, Ford brought that hot streak to a halt when its GT40 won the most prestigious of all endurance races the following year. In a remarkable show of one-upmanship, Maranello kick-started the 1967 sports car season with a dominating podium lockout in the 24 Hours of Daytona as the factory 330 P3/4 and 330 P4 led the North American Racing Team-entered 412P. The three Ferraris’ side-by-side finish was a glaring riposte to Ford’s photo finish at the Circuit de la Sarthe eight months earlier.

More than six decades later, Ferrari established its Icona limited series as a means of offering preferred clients a blend of modern drivetrains cloaked in retro-inspired bodywork. After paying homage to its open-top sports cars of the late 1940s and 1950s with the Monza SP1 and SP2, the third creation drew inspiration from the mid-engined prototypes of the 1960s. The result was the breathtaking Daytona SP3, named after Ferrari’s feat at the American venue.

The SP3’s design abounds in period competition styling cues, including the wraparound windshield, pronounced wheel arches, a removable roof panel, prominent fender mirrors, and slatted rear bodywork. Eschewing active aerodynamics, Maranello’s engineers focused on passive systems such as the “chimneys” that extract low-pressure air from the underbody. This helped make the SP3 the most efficiently passively aerodynamic Ferrari ever produced at the time of its launch.

The Daytona’s underpinnings are no less significant, featuring a derivation of the type F140 65-degree V-12 used in the 812 Superfast and the LaFerrari halo hybrid hypercar. In this 6.5-liter form, however, the hybrid-electric system was dropped to deliver a pure, unassisted 829 horsepower. Sent to the rear wheels only via a faster-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Daytona is capable of launching from zero to 62 mph in just 2.85 seconds with a top speed of 211 mph.

The exquisitely specified example offered here, chassis number 297567, was configured via Ferrari’s Atelier program and completed factory assembly in July 2023, finished in a Giallo Triplo Strato exterior with Nero racing stripes and an Italian flag motif over an interior trimmed in Nero with Giallo accents. The SP3 was desirably optioned with adjustable suspension lifter, matte black wheels with glossy black brake calipers, airbrushed Scuderia shields, and carbon fiber hardtop, lower bodywork, and outer mirrors. The cosseted interior is replete with luxurious amenities including Apple CarPlay, parking cameras, single-color livery on the upper steering wheel, stitched Giallo Cavallino Rampante logos on the headrests, single-color Dreamline on the paddle shifters, Giallo seatbelts, and large seat cushions and backrests.

This incredibly low-mileage Ferrari benefits from a short ownership chain of just two dedicated caretakers. Originally retailed through the authorized dealership Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, New York, the SP3 was delivered in January 2024 to the first owner, an enthusiast based in Florida. The Daytona returned twice to Wide World of Cars for service before being sold to the present collection in October 2025, at which point the odometer displayed approximately 220 miles. At the time of cataloguing the car showed just 227 miles, emphasizing how little it has been driven during its brief lifetime.

The Daytona SP3 boasts a truly intoxicating recipe. Its svelte styling—which takes cues from the low-slung mid-engined sports car prototypes of the 1960s—combines with the statement, naturally aspirated Ferrari V-12 without hybrid assistance. As such, the latest instalment in the Icona Series is arguably the most coveted creation to emerge wearing the famous Prancing Horse badge in recent years.

This beautifully presented example boasts a glorious bespoke configuration that would uniquely complement any collection in the world. The dynamically styled hypercar can be admired by onlookers at exhibitions and marque gatherings, or its wonderful driving dynamics can be explored and enjoyed on touring events or private escapades. In any event, this scintillating exercise in retrofuturism would ably crown most any sporting collection, offering rarity and performance specifications of the highest character.
