The reintroduction of the Maybach nameplate in 2002 was announced with theatrical grandeur. Transported across the Atlantic aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2, encased in glass on the first-class sun deck, the new Maybach arrived in New York before descending delicately by helicopter-an entrance befitting the brand's lofty ambitions. Upon debut, Maybach not only elevated contemporary standards of luxury but also reasserted the legacy of its legendary motorcars of the 1920s and '30s. The Maybach 62, named for its imposing 6.2-meter length, was described as "a world of superlatives," featuring up to 210 individual leather components, over 100 hand-fitted trim pieces, and a bespoke twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V12 producing 543 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque.

An exceptionally costly car throughout its years on offer, the base cost for a 62 had grown to $375,000 by 2005. At that level, many of the standard features aboard the Maybach 62 were unobtainable from other elite luxury car manufacturers. With reclining rear seats with leg and foot rests, integral seats with massage function, rear folding tables, Keyless-Go, power closing doors and trunk, electronically controlled Airmatic air suspension with variable ride height and spring rate, the long wheelbase 62 became the luxury chauffeur-driven standard bearer.

This 2005 Maybach 62 is finished in attractive two-tone Caspian Black Metallic and Cote d'Azur Dark Blue Metallic. This highly desirable long wheelbase 62 model benefits from measured regular use under original long-term ownership until 2015. The CARFAX Vehicle History Report records that the original owners covered just over 20,000 miles, with regular servicing noted at Mercedes-Benz of Reno along with a Damage Report filed in 2012. After two short-term owners in Southern California between 2015 and 2022, the Maybach was acquired by its most recent private owner, a Monterey resident, with approximately 38,000 miles. During this tenure, it saw no less than nine visits to both Mercedes-Benz of Stevens Creek and Mercedes-Benz of Monterey for servicing and recommended maintenance. It is disclosed that the window in the left rear door is broken/cracked, and the parking brake was observed to be inoperative during a recent test drive.
