A Chrysler with the original sand in the original brakes

Part of the Daytona Speed Week were the Flying Mile acceleration competitions in which drivers got one mile to accelerate to top speed, then were timed over a measured mile running full throttle on the beach. For the 1960 event Chrysler prepared six 300 F’s to compete in the Flying Mile and they were very successful too, capturing places one through six. The 1960 Chrysler 300 F ‘Flying Mile’ Special Coupe shown here was one of these six and has seen very little use since, having just over 11.000 miles on the clock. It’s about as original as you can get, still on original Blue Streak Goodyear tires. When last year the brakes were adjusted, original Daytona sand from the Flying Mile run was found! No wonder this Chrysler will be one of the top attractions at the 10th Annual Classics at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City starting February 18th.
