A Ferrari 225 Mystery. (Upd. Now in Museo Mille Miglia)

This photo was taken in 1960 in the small mountain village Lumezzane, just north of Brescia. Italo Grgorini started the workshop for the repair of cars and motorcycles back in 1942.  But he did more than repairs, he designed and built a four wheel drive cart for steep mountain use and possibly the first go-kart in Italy (check). In the photo Italo is working on a battered presumed Ferrari 225 Export Vignale, according to grandson Matteo. And basically we can agree on that, yet these headlights and the much higher wings keep bothering us. Later alterations for rally purposes? Is there any 225 Vignale known including this headlight arrangement?  The true afficionado of course will recognise in the background the Fiat 1100 and the Lancia Appia Furgoncino(?) pick-up.  The Gregorini workshop is still here in Lumezzane after 70 years. Check: Gregorini Auto d'Epoca

Update by Matteo Gregorini: "I did a little research and discovered that it was really a Ferrari
225 Vignale
the body was turned for race
Perhaps the lights supplied were not very bright or perhaps was only for owner pleasures
however now the car has been restored to its original shape and can be seen at the Museum Mille Miglia in Brescia."
