Always having been Jaguar fans, we just had to fall in love with this very early 1949 Jaguar XK 120 Alloy Roadster. It is in fact the 17th right-hand drive XK120 to leave the factory, and to be sold by Bonhams during their Sydney Auction on November 13th. The XK120 went straight from the production line to Australia and has a very detailed history there, including some racing in the early 1950s. Around this period the Jaguar was fitted with several C-type parts, including the cylinder head, sand-cast SU carburettors and exhaust manifold from 'XKC037', the ex-Frank Gardner car. From the 1970s on the Jag began a second career in historic racing. After an accident it was restored to original specification, although most of the period modifications were left intact, including the louvres in the bonnet and wings. We sure would have liked to own this Jag and take part in Jaguars 75th birthday celebrations!
