About car puzzle #114: Coune MG Gemini Spider

Yes, last week’s mystery motor was an MGB in disguise. Of course it was. And yes, it was by Brussels based coachbuilder Jacques Coune – a keen racing driver, Abarth concessionaire and post war carrosserier. But it wasn’t the sort of well-known B Berlinette by Coune of which 56 were made in 1963 and 1964. This slightly later car was shown at the 1966 Brussels Motor show and named the Gemini Spider. It used a transparent Targa roof and is believed to have been commissioned by a son of Count Maurice Lippens. A one-off, the Gemini supposedly had two more owners before it was crashed and written-off.

Our thanks to all entries, three of them were correct, and it was Hugo Modderman who impressed us most with his answer which not only described the car but also the interesting background surrounding it. (Now we know it was *allegedly* a Belgian call girl who wrecked the car.) He also told us all about Jacques Coune and so wins this week's prize.
