When Artcurial published its catalogue for their sale on July 9th at the Le Mans Classic, we were immediately interested to see this 1962 Facel Vega Excellence. Powered by the Chrysler Typhoon 6.3-litre engine it also had an extended chassis which made it very useful for heads of state. This one (chassis number C004) was shown at the Paris Motor Show in 1961 and sold to Roger Seydoux, French Ambassador to Morocco in 1961/2. For this latter function the car was fitted with a pennant-bearer, air-conditioning, tinted windows, a TorqueFlite automatic three-speed gear-box, disc brakes and power steering. Interestingly enough, it was the King of Morocco who owned Excellence C003!
