Brightwells for all your holiday vehicles

Not yet planned your holiday? Brightwells Auctioneers offers some keys to what may become the trip of a lifetime in their Summer Classic on July 15. First there is this 1959 Bedford Dormobile (above) with its ‘pug-nosed front end and goldfish-bowl windscreen’ but moreover with pop-up roof with two bunks, folding seat/bed arrangement, sink and gas stove. While it looks pretty tired, Brightwells describes it as ‘shabby-chic’ and says it runs very sweetly with a recent new clutch and stainless-steel exhaust. What a way to take the family on a tour.

Oh - you are not into camping? Then go for this ex-funeral and Eagle built Daimler 4-litre Limousine, which will seat 8 in all comfort and will get you noticed at even the Monte Carlo Hotel de Paris. It looks superb with just 82,000 miles driven in slow grace and pace. With an estimate of 1- to 3,000 GBP it could just become the steal of the year.

If there are just two of you travelling, Brightwells offer some good old GTs that will do just nicely. A Gilbern Genie is particularly good, or how about an MGB GT in that ultimate 1970s shade of Blaze Orange and with under 1,000 miles on the clock? The prettiest of all of them has to be this Lotus Elite, though, and what a fantastic colour Primrose Yellow is for it. This Series 2 car is believed to have had just two owners from new and looks immaculate. Not enough space in that miniature boot? Then this is your best bet: an Armstrong Siddeley Whitley Pickup with ‘double cab’ of 1957 and space for anything from a refrigerator to a piano. See the whole lot list here. Happy bidding and happy holidays!
