The former aircraft firm Heinkel started production of engines and scooters after World War 2. In 1955 they presented a rear-engined Heinkel bubble-car for sale, with two front and one rear wheel. The engine of the Heinkel car was a single-cylinder 4-stroke air-cooled unit of 175cc. A later version of 198cc was also available in the Heinkel car with twin rear wheels. In 1958 the Heinkel car design was sold to Dundalk Engineering of the Irish Republic. Later this vehicle was built in England by Trojan.
