The Fend design of 3-wheeled bubble car was taken over by Messerschmitt cars, the former aircraft company in 1953 and built in one of their works. The first Messerschmitt car was the KR175 with a 175cc single-cylinder 2-stroke Sachs engine, which was replaced on the Messerschmitt car by a 200cc engine in 1955. This version was built until 1962, when production Messerschmitt cars was discontinued. A very interesting Messerschmitt car was the 4-wheeled FMR Tg500 (Tiger) with a twin-cylinder 500cc Sachs engine, which Messerschmitt car was built from 1958 until 1960.
