Previously marketed under the Austin and Morris names, the various models of the fwd Mini, pioneer of the transverse engine configuration, were given the status of an individual make in 1970. The Mini car range extended from the basic 848cc type up to the 1.275cc GT and Mini Cooper S, though this was discontinued after 1971. The 998cc Clubman variant was also available as a station wagon. The millionth export Mini was devlivered during April 1970.
