Enrico Nardi, a former racing driver and engineer, helped to build an interesting racing special designed by the Italian A. Monaco in 1934-1935, assisted Enzo Ferrari in building his first car, the 1½-litre 8-cylinder Ferrari 815 sports car of 1940, then Nardi went into partnership with Renato Danese between 1947 and 1950. They built fast sports Nardi 750s, using either BMW-based flat-twin air-cooled engines, or Fiat-based 4-cylinder units in multi-tubular frames. Nardi cars also produced Lancia-engined specials and, in 1955, built a remarkable twin-hulled sports car for Le Mans, the Nardi Bisiluro with the under-750cc Giannini twin-ohc engine installed, together with the transmission, in one hull. More recently, Nardi cars have been well known in Italy as manufacturers of special manifolds, crankshafts, camshafts, and other speed accessories.
