Classic car gang works fast in Aachen

The police of Aachen, Germany tries to battle a gang that specializes in stealing post war classic cars, with a multitude of them having disappeared over the last few months. It seems the gang of thieves is working professionally and much in the spirit of ‘Gone In Sixty Seconds’ as they know exactly what they are looking for and know how to get it.

Things started this summer with several classics disappearing soon after another when in July no fewer then four cars were stolen from a lock-up: a 1971 Porsche 911; 1970 VW T2; a 1968 Mercedes 280 SL plus a bonus-BMW Z1 of 1989 vintage. Several cars worth less were left behind. In the following weeks more classic cars followed, among them a 1969 Ford Mustang and another two Porsches 911, while last week a Ferrari 412i disappeared. The Aachen police believes the gang uses a closed transporter truck and they have said they keep in mind there could be a collector behind the thefts, although the cars may also get sold in pieces. You'd better be careful when you take your classic over to Aachen.
