Hitting the ball from a Cadillac bonnet mascot

What on earth are these four women doing? We’re not totally sure ourselves, but know one thing: they are professional golfers. And the one standing bare-footed on that impressive bonnet happens to be Louise Suggs, we think. Hitting the ball from the car’s hood ornament is not something we’d want to try ourselves.

But Louise was the girl who won the 7th US Women's Open Golf Championship on this very day in 1952, so she clearly knew what she was doing. Was the Caddy a prize for a hole-in-one hit? Or is that a tradition that came about later? Perhaps it was a personal car for one of the ladies? It has to be a 1949 Cadillac 62 convertible, which has ample space for a lady on its bonnet...
