If the 914 is a poor men’s Porsche, the Dino has to be the poor man’s Ferrari, right? Well, for decades it may have been considered to be just that, but that has all changed now. 60 Years after Alfredo ‘Dino’ Ferrari passed away in 1956, the car named after him has firmly entered the supercar league. One 206 GT was hammered down at $638,000 in 2014, which makes it more than welcome at any prestigious event now.
The Concours D’élégance Paleis Het Loo in The Netherlands in fact brings together a display of Dino 206 GTs, 246 GTs, 246 GTSs and the later 208- and 308 GT4s as a tribute to the sad day of Dino’s loss. And not just with Ferraris. The car’s V6 engine was of course developed and built in cooperation with the mighty Fiat concern, which made it available to them as well. So look out for Fiat Dino Spiders and Coupes plus Lancia Stratoses, too.
