Hardly known to in Europe except for dealers and a handfull of collectors is Barrett Jackson. A major auction house in the US, best known for starting the muscle car hype in the early 2000-s. Yet it's certainly not only muscle cars they're selling coming weekend in Scottsdale. In fact they probably have the largest number of entries of all auction companies. No less than 500 (!) classic cars. The good thing about huge numbers like that is that certain cars may be overlooked and possibly change hands for prices far below average.
How about this 1948 Delahaye 135 M drophead by Guilloré. Before moving to the US it was 20 years with a Japanese collector who in turn bought it from the late Jacques Harguindeguy. In today's appearance it has a matching upholstery (we would prefer a patinated light brown, yet that's a matter of personal taste), but hey... this may influence the price in a positive way and if that's the only problem of a car that looks very presentable in other respects - check engine bay - it may be well worth the trouble.
(Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale, Tuesday - Sunday; the Delahaye, lot 50551 will go on Saturday)
