An eclectic mix of motors will go under the hammer at H&H’s this Wednesday, but be sure to be there on time if you fancy an early Morgan that may well have a nice slice of history hidden behind its ‘Flat Rad’. It’s lot number 1. The chassis in question – the number is known - is believed to be of a 1939 4/4, but the car was reputedly stored in the picturesque Malvern Link factory until War was over. It left there in 1946. Like the chassis number, the engine number is known too. It’s the 1267cc Standard side valve mill, correct to the model.
The car was on the road until Summer 1967 when its last MOT expired – almost 50 years ago now. Most of the body is still there; you just need to put all those bits together again, and track down some more to finish it off. What’s better than that? Well, tracking down its past may just be. With no V5 you’ll have to find out the hard way, though. But don’t worry, the MSCC will be at your service.
