While junk yarding in Wisconsin, Verity Spencer and a friend spotted this little guy to be more intriguing than the VW bugs and Chevy Citations piled under him. She wonders what it is. Well, to European eyes it's not a big mystery. Must be a '60s rear-engined Fiat 850 Spider Bertone. Check Bertone.it, who claim to have produced no less than 140,000 units! Many of those went to the US. Nowadays they have become very rare. Based on chassis and engine of the Fiat 850, mechanical parts are not hard to source. Body panels and detail fittings are something else. Still it is one of the cheapest options to enter the realm of Italian sports cars.
