report by Francisco Carríon: Perhaps in the USA this car wouldn´t have caught the attention of any collector. The model is relatively common and the condition is bad. However, in Europe, is not very normal to find a car like that abandoned in the middle of nowhere, and almost complete. This 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air has spent most of its life in a very little village in southern Europe in the company of little european cars which made the Chevy one of the most admired and envied in the town. Every single afficionado knew this Bel-Air, but one day it just dissapeared. More than 20 years the local collectors looked for the car without any success. We supposed it had been scrapped a long time ago, but suddenly your reporter received an interesting phone message with a photo of the car. This was two weeks ago. The photo was sent by a woman who said "look, an abandoned car at my uncle´s home, I don´t know what it is". Wonders of modern technologies!!! The car in the photo was undoubtly the old ´58 that so many people had been searching, and a visit was quickly arranged. What a great joy to see this car 'in person' again! Many parts broken or rusted and the original petrol engine was exchanged in the 70s for a 4 cylinder Perkins diesel engine... but anyway, I love this mytical car from my native town, and perhaps it deserves to be saved. What do you think?
