The colour yellow is often strongly associated with Easter, supposedly because yellow (and gold) represents the glorious resurrection of Jesus in all its light and is linked to the divine, to fire and to all things precious — or so we are told.
We have never quite understood it, but there are collectors who like to impress their friends with large numbers of supercars that all seem to belong together through their paintwork. And if they cannot find another in that particular shade, they simply send it to the paint shop. Each to their own, we would say, but these people think differently.
The organisers of Salon Privé may understand them better, as they regularly bring together a large number of sports cars in one and the same colour on the lawns of Blenheim Palace. In 2023, ‘The Yellow Collection’ was on display there, consisting of 16 cars in yellow — giallo, jaune and gelb — to impress visitors. And it must be said that it did look rather striking. What is more, it does evoke associations with Easter.
Happy Easter!
