Last weekend (21, 22 and 23th February) the Classic Auto Fair of Madrid took place. The undisputed star was the black Pegaso Z-102 Saoutchik of the main photo, recently restored to concours conditions and exhibited in the Paris Motor Salon when launched in the 1954. Just a few meters away yet another Pegaso, a very rare Z-102 first series bodied originally in the factory as a coupe but converted years ago as an elegant roadster, offered by Pueche from Madrid, who probably will bring the car to the show in Essen. (Photo 3). The other protagonists were the Alfa Romeo cars, shown in incredible numbers all over the fair.
It was the 60th anniversary of the Giulietta and therefore reason to dedicate a concours d'elegance especially to this Italian marque. One of the highlights was a superb restored Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC, one of less than 1000 produced in two years (photo 5). But aside the space dedicated to cars, this fair is primarily a place to buy 'classic parts', automobilia and scale models presented by more than 300 dealers from Spain, Italy, France, GB and Portugal. In their varied stands you could find interesting automobilia such as a Dinky Toys Commer "Ecurie Ecosse", probably with amended price tag after the recent millionaire auction of the real one... but if this item is too little for you, what about the Hillman Imp prepared for rallyes in the 1960s by Nathan and in almost original condition?
