At first glimpse this Ford Country Squire looks like any other station wagon. Room for the whole family, boat on the roof for fun on the water. But there's more. This is an experimental model that Ford developed in 1958 after a survey that was sent to many campers to find out what they were looking for in a station wagon. The result was this amazing vehicle... the push-button Country Squire! It works like this... push a button and the boat folds out, ready to be lowered into the water. Below the boat is a tent that is automatically raised. Below the tent are two beds, complete with blankets and reading lights. Push another button and a whole kitchen becomes available, with an electric fridge and hobs. Of course there's also hot and cold running water. Rain coming? Push yet another button and the rear of the station wagon is covered with a fold-out roof. All in all, a real motel on wheels. Now, we wonder, why didn't it catch on?
