Apart from their shapes there’s nothing as fashionable on cars as their colours, with white being the current trend. According to a BMW designer we have to thank the late Steve Jobs for this: “Prior to Apple, white was associated with things like refrigerators or the tiles in your bathroom. Apple made white valuable.” It makes you wonder what inspired the world in the 1970s to embrace brown as its absolute favourite. Hammond organs? David Crosby? Who will tell? But fact is that motor manufacturers, too, needed to spray their products Mocca, Chocolate or Coffee in those days. And to finish it all off they photographed them with a stylish brunette in typical fashion, like Lancia did with their 2000 Coupé in 1971. Better than platinum blonde for modern fashionable Italians, we think.
