Beaches give us a sort of magical feeling. The endlessly broad vista and the rushing sound of the sea, immediately puts us in a summer-holiday frame of mind. However, beaches are not just there for tourists to unwind; they're also perfect for sports and, in particlar, sand racing.
We've come across an online photo gallery of the Southport Sand Races. These racing events were a popular attraction in the British coastal town in years past, going back to pre-war times. Many motorbikes took part as well as cars in these speed trials organized by the Southport Motor Racing Club Ltd. As the picture shows, the competitive aspect was taken seriously.
This summer, you will see few motorized vehicles on the beach apart from the ice-cream van, and you'll have to be content to listen to the waves breaking on the share and the chattering of tourists. However, we hope you have the get the same warm holiday feeling as we do, and we wish you a very happy holiday!
