The mystery Aprilia before it lost its nose. (UPDATE: sliding pillars?)

It took nearly a month but the right people were reached and the result is there:
" It is the 1100cc Lancia Special that HansFischhaber campaigned in the 1953 German sportscar championship. (For racing the windscreen was of course replaced by an aeroscreen.) The car was crashed at the second round at the Avus on July 12 and Fischhaber reverted to his old 1500cc car for the rest of the season. However, the1100cc car was not scrapped, but rebuilt with a new nose. This is probably what gave rise to the rumor that two cars were built." See Peter Vack's Full report at Veloce Today
