Maybe, or maybe not, but it is a fact that the first Range Rover was as good on land as it was on the road. It was launched forty years ago, on June 17 1970 and the first generation stayed in production -with many updates- for 25 years. The Range Rover became very popular as its concept of combining luxury with off-road motoring was completely new at the time and has since been copied by many other makes.
