The ROG Mystery (update:1939 Ford tail light )

While we were attending our stand at the Beaulieu Autojumble, we had a visit from David Lawson. He had just bought the side lamp you see here, but had no clue as to what it was for. “Did we know?” No, we didn’t, but immediately suggested that our readers must know. The lamp was made by a company called ROG and the general feeling was that it’s a Belgian company, but again we’re not sure. It is some 12 centimetres long and about 10 centimetres deep. Can you tell us more about this lamp?
(UPDATE by editor RB: It's not a Porsche 356 lamp as suggested by Stuart Penketh, that one is fastened with two screws)
