At first sight you won't connect this sad '56 Bentley S1 Freestone & Webb Saloon with the world's most prestigeous concours d' elegance. Only recently found in southern California the car is in need of a good 'wash & shine' but we understand technically she is better than she looks. Engine runs, gauges work, wood, interior and chrome complete. Not a bad start of a restoration job. But maybe the best thing is its registration. It has the original Del Monte Forrest metal tag for home owners on the 17 Mile Drive. Any one that lived on the 17 Mile Drive and had a quality car would have entered it at Pebble Beach back than. We understand the car will come to the market soon. Suppose you would purchase it, you could do two things. Either restore it to high-end PB Concours quality (spend US$250,000 ) or overload the car with TLC without using a drop of paint (spend US$2500) and see to it, to get an invitation in the HPOF class.
(Historical Preservation of Original Features). An interesting choice to think about. Thank you for sharing this Gary! We'll send you the PostWarClassic reporter cap. A nice entry ticket to Pebble Beach perhaps?
