Wannabee movie star

Among the many Aston Martins and Lagonda’s that will be auctioned by Bonhams on May 22, we spotted this 1962 DB4 . At the time of the shooting of the James Bond movie ‘Goldfinger’ its owner worked as a special effects designer at Pinewood Studios. He allowed his Aston to be used as a 'test mule' so it was measured for the various gadgets – ejector seat, machine guns, etc – that would feature on the silver DB5 driven by Sean Connery in the film. Somewhat annoyed by the delayed delivery of the DB5s from the factory, producer Cubby Broccoli once turned to the DB4's owner and said, 'Why don't we just use your car and spray it silver?' The owner didn’t like the idea so this DB4 survived the rigorous movie treatment!
