What will you find under the Christmas tree?

You have a few days left to sort out the Christmas shopping. Have you remembered the Christmas crackers? The candles? Brandy sauce? Party poppers? And then there are all the presents for your loved ones, and anyone else who you think has earned a little gift. This is the season of goodwill, after all.

Some of us like to treat our cars to presents as well. This picture, taken from Auto Sport’s December 1965 issue, shows a great selection of tuning accessories so typical for the day, with everything on display now very much sought after today.

We see a lovely 10-inch Cosmic magnesium wheel and a nice 15-inch wire one, Dunlop overalls, a double Weber carburettor, chromed bullet mirrors (Talbot? Styla?), triple air horns (FRAM? Maserati?), sports exhaust (is it a Cherry Bomb?), sports steering wheels (Springall? Delta?), rev counter (Veglia-Borletti we think), bucket seat (no idea about that one), a few motor club badges (anyone recognize these?), the obligatory 1960s driving gloves and ‘Sherlock Holmes’ deerstalker hat, and of course the quintessential Les Leston umbrella! All of it in a nice box and ready for your lovely lady to wrap up with a ribbon and leave under the tree for you.

Feel free to fill the gaps we’ve left open as a warm-up for the traditional Christmas quiz that will soon appear on these hallowed pages. Have a merry Christmas.
