Jan Steutel of The Netherlands sends these photos of the 1948 Delahaye once owned by his father. These photos were shot in 1961. The car is a type 135 with a drophead coupe by Roos from The Hague. His father and uncle Piet now owned a Delahaye. Jan - age 5 at the time - reports this was his first chance to be in an open car! He wanted to jump in but his mother held him back: "First put on a warm coat!" After a little while the family decided the Delahaye was too much of a 'gipsy car' and would hurt the family's esteem in the neighbourhood. Since 30 years Jan tries to relocate the car. He traced back three owners, yet after 1967 the track ends in Utrecht where the car was sold with a broken engine. Since then not a trace of the Delahay. To sooth his grief Jan found himself a Talbot Lago, but he still hopes to learn about the fate of father's Delahaye. Do you have any memory or old photo of the car? Please let us know.
