Which cars did Ferrari show – 70- years ago?

While the endless research on Ferrari continuous uninterruptedly and the number of Ferrari history books non-stop grows, especially during this time of year, it seems strange to us that there is not much to be found on the earliest of Ferrari’s show cars.

What we know is that the first Ferrari road cars were shown at the Salone di Torino of November 1948 – yes, that is 70 years ago now – it is not very clear which two cars were the ones on display. Well, to us at least. One is said to have been a Ferrari 166 Sport, a four-seater coupe clothed by Carrozzeria Touring, which we think must have been the car in the pictures seen here.

But the other? That is believed to have been an open 166 Mille Miglia, also bodied by Touring. Remarkably, perhaps, the closed car supposedly won its class at the 1948 Mille Miglia. It makes one wonder why the other one was called Mille Miglia? Also: it is stated as a fact that Ferrari sold his first two cars, both 166 Corsa spiders, to the Soave brothers. Was one of these two perhaps the Turin motor show car? We really do not know, and cannot find any conformation anywhere. Odd, isn’t it?
