A 1949 MG YT Tourer.
Black with brown, red-piped interior.
MG first introduced the ‘Y’ type in 1947, employing a modified Morris 8 body and a 1250cc EXPAG engine, the latter being a de-tuned version of the ‘T’ type sports car’s power units. A year after the introduction of the saloon, a tourer was produced which included twin SU’s and was mostly aimed at the export market.
This example was exported new to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and re-imported in 1984. Extensive maintenance records are contained in the history file. Last run three years ago, the car will need recommissioning.
